For Bulletin Cover- September 2
Dear Friends,
On this Labor Day weekend, my prayer is that you are giving thanks to God for your skills and talents. We have worked and are working in diverse fields. What we have in common is God’s blessing on the work of our hands, minds, and hearts. Through our work, we reflect God’s image of creator and provider.
I invite you, also, to give thanks for the volunteer and paid laborers who sustain the ministry of First UMC. Many volunteers make sure that our buildings and grounds are in good repair, the kitchen is ready for service, the gardens are tended, our financial policies and procedures meet the highest standards, and publications and mailings reach our church family.
Our church staff, both full-time and part-time, is essential to providing the level of ministry and programming that the congregation of First UMC has come to expect. Each employee oversees a specialized portion of our ministry. Through their gifts, dedication and energy, our congregation is blessed.
Proverbs 16:3 begins, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do.” This is sound advice as we give thanks for our labors and the labors of those in our lives.
Blessings,
Pastor Sherry
