Dear Friends,
Do you remember the finger game we played as children? "Here's the church. Here's the steeple. Open the doors and see all the people." What a profound truth! The church is people.
Most of our memories in the church are generated from pleasant recollections of people. In those times of reminiscence, we join the company of the saints, people who link us to all who have been part of the church from the time of Jesus’ resurrection.
When we talk about what draws us to participate in this faith community, we often talk about the people. We appreciate the many gifts that people possess and use for God’s glory. We treasure relationships that grow, bringing support and friendship.
Today we celebrate the gift of people in our church. Who in this congregation would you thank for being a blessing, a gift? This is a good day to take time after the worship service to thank people who are special gifts to you. Name and celebrate the gift!
