Faith Formation at Brighton First

Bulletin Letter for September 16, 2012

Dear Friends

Today we dedicate our faith formation teachers and leaders for service in the name of Jesus Christ. Many dedicated volunteers make our small groups and classes possible. Twenty-five teachers and assistants work with our children and youth on Sunday mornings, including three high school volunteers. We have over 15 leaders in adult faith formation, and adult leaders who assist with our youth groups, grades 5 – 12.

We celebrate that 85 children and youth attended Sunday school on September 9 and we anticipate that number will grow. On Wednesday evening, we held our first Crossroads dinner and classes. Fifty-five children, youth and adults participated.

This year at Crossroads we have a peer-led class for youth and young adults. We are thankful for youth who have stepped up to lead.

Our 2nd – 4th grade “rotation” Sunday School class studies a different theme each month. In September they are learning about Communion. Today, during the 9:30 Sunday school hour, the children are experiencing a traditional Seder dinner in the chapel.

Faith formation happens in many ways. Some people are part of small groups. Others are studying the Bible or participating in a book study. Our children have the opportunity to be in our choral/drama program on Wednesday nights. During our 11:00 Sunday school experience, children learn with hands-on projects.

Please keep our faith formation ministries in prayer, and if God is leading you, ask our staff about a place for you to serve in this ministry.

Blessings,
Pastor Sherry
