Youth Ministry at Brighton First

Bulletin Letter for September 23, 2012

Dear Friends,

Over the last year, we have been working to articulate a vision for our church and to set goals for the years ahead. The work is on-going, and you will hear more from the Vision Taskforce.

I share with you, this morning, one of the vision statements that is taking shape through the feedback of congreation members. In this church "youth are nurtured as they grow, develop, and are empowered into faithful adulthood."

You have expressed a desire for a strong and fruitful youth program that supports and challenges youth. You envision a church where youth grow in faith and move into adulthood as disciples of Christ.

Today we celebrate the renovation of our youth center, The Well. We must remember that providing an attractive, comfortable space of our youth is just the beginning in attaining our vision.

Youth will know they are supported when their voices are heard on Sunday morning and in ministry planning and decision making. Youth will know that their nurture and growth is valued by this church when adults volunteer to teach, to lead, to offer support and to mentor where youth are present.

Some say that youth are the “future of the church”. I disagree. Youth, bright, bold and full of energy, are part of the church today. I invite you to support youth ministry in prayer. In addition, consider what your role will be in supporting and empowering youth.

Blessings,
Pastor Sherry
