Advent Begins

Bulletin Letter for December 2, 2012

Dear Friends,

Welcome to Advent! God bless you on this first Sunday of the Christian year. Today we begin preparing for the birth of Jesus. As you can see, there has already been preparation, as a team of congregation members have decorated the sanctuary.

In addition to our Sunday worship services leading up to Christmas, there are other mid-week worship services for the preparation of our hearts. On Thursday, December 6 and 13 at 6:30, join us for chapel communion services. On Thursday, December 20 at 7:00 we will host a “Longest Night” worship service. It is a quiet, contemplative service to welcome the light of Christ. On Sunday evening, December 16 at 6:00, the children offer a Christmas musical.

We prepare our homes for the Christmas celebration. We buy gifts and prepare meals, watch Christmas specials and movies on television and attend gatherings with friends and families. Let these weeks of preparation include daily prayer, acts of praise and thanksgiving and worship with our community of faith.

“By the tender mercy of our God, the dawn from on high will break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet in the way of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79)

Blessings,

Pastor Sherry
