May 12, 2013 Bulletin Cover Letter
Dear Friends,
God’s blessings on this day as we celebrate the gift
of mothers and those who have been a mothering influence in our lives. Whether
we are remembering or honoring mothers today, we lift prays of thanks for women
who have done their best to guide us.
This morning we are remembering children and youth in
Southeast Michigan who have not experienced the stability of consistent
parenting. For nearly 100 years, the Methodist Children’s Home Society, with a
72 acre campus in Redford, has been assisting children and youth. The Home
serves more than 270 children a year through residential foster care, adoption
and literacy programs.
Originally, the Methodist Children’s Home Society was
founded to care for orphans. Today, the ministry fulfills a vital and
challenging purpose within the State of Michigan by providing services to
children and families in crisis. The goal is to help children overcome problems
that have occurred as a result of abuse and neglect and, if possible, to
reunite the children with their birth families. Until the day when children are
free from the pain and confusion cause by abuse and neglect, the Home will
exist, meeting the needs of hurting children.
The gift of loving adults in the life of a child
makes a profound difference throughout their lives. This morning, you are
invited to honor a mother or a “mothering” person in your life by giving a gift
of $5.00 to support the Methodist Children’s Home Ministry. Your gift will go
toward transforming the life of a child.
If you would like to visit the Children’s Home campus
or learn more go to mchsmi.org.
Blessing,
Pastor Sherry
