Dear Friends,
Today we celebrate All Saints Sunday. This is a day of
remembrance for the saints of our faith community and in our circle of friends
and family.
In the New Testament the “saints” are all Christian people
of every time and place. While we might think that a person has to be perfect
to achieve “sainthood”, that isn’t the case. In the early church, saints were
normal people who followed Jesus Christ. Saints made mistakes and didn’t always
agree with one another. What they had in common, however, was a love for God
and a desire to live a faithful life.
I invite you, this morning, to remember the saints in your
life. Give thanks for those who have gone before you, for their guidance and
inspiration. Give thanks for the saints who live among us today, for their
example.
As followers of Jesus, we are saints. Let us find ways to
encourage one another and to reflect the love of Christ in our lives.
Blessings,
Sherry
