Dear Friends,
This
afternoon we will host our church’s annual meeting. In the tradition of the
United Methodist Church, we call it a Church Conference. It is a required
meeting in our denomination and the meeting offers church members a voice in
decisions regarding the mission and ministry of the church.
At
today’s conference we will hear from our District Superintendent, Rev. Mark
Spaw, who oversees the 70 United Methodist Churches of the Ann Arbor District.
In addition, we will vote on church officers for 2014 and clergy compensation.
One
of the highlights of the meeting is voting the recommendation of our candidates
for ministry: Sue Pethoud, Bryan Kilpatrick, Dan Phillips and Suzy Hutchison.
In addition, we will vote to support Rev. Paul Hahm as he continues in the
process toward ordination as an elder.
Members
of our church will speak about how First UMC has helped them to be disciples of
Jesus Christ.
Please
join us in the sanctuary from 2:45 – 3:45 for our annual Church
Conference.
Blessings,
Pastor Sherry
