Caring Ministries

Bulletin Cover Letter for September 22, 2013

Dear Friends,

Over the years, I have spoken with church members who are grieving, and I have heard them ask, “What do people who don’t have the church do in times like this?” The questions come from those who have found great support in the church community.

Unfortunately, not everyone has had a positive experience with the support of the church. Either church members have not responded in a caring manner or, at least, they have not lived up to our expectations.

At Brighton First, we work to be a community where all are welcomed and cared for. Of course, we do not always get it right, but it is our goal, relying on the grace of God,  to embrace people who are searching for a place to belong and to care for those who are in need.

We offer care through formal ministries like our Thursday morning prayer team, Befrienders and pastoral care from our clergy. We also have informal programs to help each other with meals and transportation. People are blessed with personal connection and prayer in our small groups, classes, mission and outreach teams, and United Methodist Women.

If you are feeling called to a deeper connection with this community of faith or you find yourself in need of someone to talk to, have a conversation with a pastor, church staff member or class leader. It is my prayer that we might support one another on our journeys of faith.

Blessings,

Pastor Sherry
