Dear Friends,
Preparing for worship at Brighton First begins weeks
and months before Sunday morning. The clergy develop worship themes and the
worship design team plan for how we will worship through sight, movement and
sound. Our welcoming, hymns and prayers, the children’s message and the sermon
are all intended to draw us together into a prayerful, hopeful time in the
presence of God.
This summer we have enjoyed looking at many stories
from the Book of Acts and asking the question, “What is the message here for
the church today?”
As we began to plan for September worship, we
acknowledged that it is a busy time for many people. Some are returning from
their cottages and others are preparing to travel south in the weeks ahead.
Families with children and youth are adjusting to school schedules and to
accompanying schedules for practices, rehearsals and games. We have decided,
beginning September 8, to speak to our pace of life.
We will be looking to the story of the Exodus and a
people set free from captivity who had how their lives would be different. We
will be considering “Lessons from the Wilderness”.
If you have friends or neighbors, family members or
colleagues who are feeling overwhelmed by the demands of schedules and
obligations, there may be a word of hope for them in this worship series. Be
courageous, be caring; invite them to worship with you.
Blessings,
Pastor Sherry
