Worship Connection Cards Yield Surprising Results

Bob Fuchs, Director of Discipleship, introduced Connection Cards to the Brighton First congregation on Sunday, June 5. The cards replace the "sign in" clipboards that were used to record attendance information.

Why the change? The change to Connection Cards will help Brighton First to have the most current contact information for regular attenders, provide more information about visitors and offer a more convenient way for worshipers to sign up for upcoming classes, events and mission opportunities.

Why is everyone being asked to fill out a card every Sunday?  Every worship attender (individual, couple or family) is encouraged to complete a Connection Card each Sunday. First, regular attenders will model for visitors that this is a practice in which we all participate. Brighton First hosts 4 - 10 visitors each week. While we may receive the names of visitors through personal greeting or a signature on the clip board, we seldom recieve enough information for a follow up contact. It is our hope that this practice will increase opportunities to be in touch with visitors.

Second, we have found that our method for signing up for classes and events is ineffective. Persons are asked to find the sign up table in the Community Room and sign up there. Whether a worshipper is asking for more information or signing up for an event or class, the Connection Cards make that more convenient.

Will the change to Connection Cards make that much difference? After our first week of using the cards, we received suprising results. Information we received includeds:
All of our first time visitors left contact information and Brighton First was able to follow up with them by Tuesday.

Some new to Brighton First that have been attending regularly over the last few months, offered contact information for the first time.

93 regular attenders left additions or corrections to contact information

21 people asked to be friended by our Facebook page.

39 expressed interest in our small group ministry

18 wanted more information about Financial Peace University (a course in personal finance practices that will be offered this fall)

7 people indicated a desire to become members of Brighton First and two want to be baptized

20 people plan to attend our upcoming Brunch with the Pastor to find out more about Brighton First
