Bulletin Letter for November18, 2012
Dear Friends,
Praise be to God for those who participated in “Change the World” Day and for those who will make sandwiches for the Detroit Noah Project today.
One of the words that we might hear this week is “homemade.” Our national Thanksgiving celebration is a time for cooks to bring out their best. Those with a tradition of a large meal on Thanksgiving Day may be looking forward to a particular homemade food that is a specialty of a family member.
There is something notable about food prepared with love for family and friends. Taking time to search out ingredients, measure carefully, and make something delicious is a blessing for those who come to the table. We can say with satisfaction “I made this for you.”
When we serve others, we offer that same blessing. Whether we are raking the leaves from a yard or helping to hang drywall, whether we’re sorting food donations or listening to someone’s life story, we are offering our time and talents to bless another person.
This Thanksgiving many of us will be blessed with homemade treats. Through “Change the World” and the outreach that our church offers year-round, we are acting in thanksgiving and offering blessings.
Blessings,
Pastor Sherry
