Name Change for Active Brighton First Committee

A Mission Project: CROP Walk raises money to provide
food for the hungry of Livingston County and the world.
The Outreach Committee has changed its name to the Missions Committee and this was affirmed by the Brighton First Administrative Board this week. The Missions Committee has actively guided the mission projects and mission teams of Brighton First for many years.

Greg Kushner, the current chairman of the Missions Committee, explained that the name change will eliminate confusion when Brighton First begins intentional community outreach programming in 2016. At that time an Outreach Team will be organizing events.

An Outreach Project: Sharing the Good News of Jesus and
creating relationships with children in our community.
The terms "Missions" and "Outreach" have similar meanings. At Brighton First, we are distinguishing our Missions efforts as predominantly "transactional", helping others in the name of Jesus Christ to find relief through improved housing, medical care, food availability, etc. Along with offering help to those in need, we offer the very presence of Christ.

Outreach at Brighton First is intended to be "relational". Outreach events that we plan in the community will be intentionally structured to build relationships and connect our church to the community in meaningful ways.

Both our mission and outreach efforts make a difference for thousands of people every year. We give thanks to God for the high value that Brighton First congregation members place on service in the name of Jesus Christ.
