Missy Setty Named Children's Ministry Director

On February 1, Missy Setty was named Children's Ministry Director for Brighton First. Missy oversees our programing for children, infants through 4th grade. This includes Sunday School, special children’s events and Vacation Bible School. Missy brings life-long experience in the church and a love of God and children. Her education and experience will be an asset to her ministry. We our blessed that Missy has chosen to lead our children’s ministries at Brighton.

A word of introduction from Missy:  I have lived in Brighton for nearly 11 years and have been a member of this church family for all of that time.  My husband, Jim and I have two sons – Alex, an 8th grader, and Matthew, a 5th grader. My Bachelor’s Degree is in education from the University of Toledo and I have completed classes towards my Master’s Degree in Education at both Eastern Michigan University and Kent State University. I have been a teacher in both the Novi and Charyl Stockwell Academy districts and I am currently a swim coach for the Pinckney Aquatic Club, an adult mentor for the Ypsilanti Youth Orchestra, and a Pokemon Professor and league leader for the Pokemon trading card game at the Brighton District Library.  I love Doctor Who (Jim is letting me build a TARDIS in our basement!), reading, and teaching children. While English is my native language I also am proficient in French, pig Latin and nerd.   I am looking forward to working with our volunteers to share the love and teachings of Christ with our children.

Please keep Missy in prayer as she leads ministry in our congregation. I invite you to send a note of encouragement to missy@brightonfumc.org. If you are moved to serve, offering children the love of Jesus Christ, contact Missy.
